An entangled minke whale was reported off the north-east coast of England on 1st October. The approximately 5m long whale was spotted several miles off Saltburn-by-the-Sea in Redcar and Cleveland by an angling boat, which then informed a nearby whale watching vessel. The whale appeared to be entangled in lobster pot gear, with the rope running through the whales mouth and around the right pectoral fin. The whale watching vessel removed the gear from the body and the it has not been spotted since.
