Marine contaminants in a variety of cetacean species in the Mediterranean Sea

Following on from the post yesterday about our study on the impact of PCBs on reproduction in UK harbour porpoises, an interesting article has been published on PBS, describing high levels of marine contaminants in a variety of cetacean species in the Mediterranean Sea, compared to individuals of the same species in the Atlantic.

The article describes the results of a paper titled “POPs in free-ranging pilot whales, sperm whales and fin whales from the Mediterranean Sea: Influence of biological and ecological factors” which has been published in the journal Environmental Research. Link to the paper abstract here;
